ANNUAL RALLY 2001Milton Keynes MuseumSaturday 19/Sunday 20 MayThis year's Annual Rally and AGM was the most successful ever. More members and machines were present than ever before. This is a small selection of the mowers on show. Please click on any of the thumbnails to see a larger version of the picture. THE PARTICIPANTS On Sunday afternoon, many of the Club members present posed for an informal group picture on the Museum's lawn. THE SETTING The mowers were arranged on the grass in front of the Museum's lawn mower display building, either side of the gravel road running by the Hall of Transport. THE MOWERS This is just a small selection of the mowers present over the weekend! 1960s Atco motor mower (left) 1920s Automower (middle) 1900s Army & Navy Stores "Victoria", manufactured by Follows & Bate (right) PONY MOWERS Pony and horse mowers featured prominently at this year's rally. Pictured below is Andrew Grout with his recently acquired Ransomes pony mower (left) and Stan Hardwick's superbly restored example (right). Will Andrew complete his restoration by 2002 we wonder? Watch this space. Howard Yates, the Museum's resident horseman, demonstrated horse drawn lawn mowing with the Museum's own 1890s Shanks horse mower. The Hall & Duck Trust brought their newly restored Greens horse mower. THE MEETING Over 50 Club Members were present at the AGM on Sunday morning. |
