Atco Standard 14" Cutting Blade Sprocket

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

Hi,

I am in the middle of a restoration of an Atco Standard 14" Motor Mower (very exciting and my 1st old mower project).

I have dismantled most of the mower and all looks good, all quite original, but not got to the engine yet, last run in the 1970s.

However, I have noticed the sprocket on the Cutting Blade is quite worn on 50% of the teeth are very low compared to the rest.

See Picture:-

Its Part 4887 Sprocket - 10T from the Atco Parts List PDF.

I have a couple of questions if anyone can help:-

1) Does the Sprocket just pull off the hex shaft (with a bearing puller)..?

2) Does any one have a Sprocket spare or willing to sell..?

Any help would be greatly appreciated..?

Kind regards,

Ian

Don't have an answer to either question but if you enter Vintage Atco into a fleabay search you will find a trader selling a few Standard parts. They may be able to assist.

Hi There  saw a few of these many moons ago  but scrapped them, anyway

to your question  the cylinder sprocket  is either  like suffolk  2 flat flanges

or screwed on could be left handed thread. If you look at the photo below sprocket

you will see the flat flanged section ,Hope this helps a bit.Heat it up

with a blow lamp etc  to remove.

Hinchy reports that his sprocket was removed using a puller.

I used a blow torch but was unable to shift it.

Hinchy's question to me now is, "has the heat damaged it?"

Anyone care to comment?
