atco fuel tank repair
Probably a daft question but here goes One of my fuel tanks has some pin prick size holes in it where the previous owner had left it in his "out door shed" for 20 odd years, the inside is free of rust as he had left fuel in it which had kind of chryistalised I soaked it inside over night with caustic soda then put a light blow torch inside, got it nice and hot gave the tank a sharp tap and all the old fuel fell out in lumps leaving quite clean tank inside but with a few pin prick holes would it be possible to repair holes wth solder is my Question or is that a totally daft idea

I have successfully repaired
I have successfully repaired a tank by soldering but one of the sealants may be a better long term solution as it will guard against further pin holes appearing later.
I have heard that the modern
I have heard that the modern fuels can destroy the tank sealants, that are in common use and can also attack solder, so it could pay to do a bit of research on the net before any decision is made. Personally I would go along the solder line as a lot of fuel tanks (not sure about mowers ??) in the old days were made out of a steel with a solder coating, (tern metal ?) , that new solder would adhere to well.
