No spark

I have an Atco Balmoral 17s which is not producing a spark. I've replaced the ignition coil but this does not seem to have solved the issue. What should I look at next?

Have you tried a "known good" spark plug?

Is your replacement coil new or used ? Also, are you aware that the first generation electronic coil units were of the capacitive type and the later and current units are of the inductive type ? Each type needing its own flywheel.

That aside try disconnecting the kill wire from the throttle plate to eliminate a faulty stop switch permanently grounding the coil - as will a pinched wire between the stop switch and the coil.

Thanks for the info. I have tried a new plug. The new coil is not a genuine part but matches the part number and looks identical. I guess the kill wire is my best bet. Not something I've done before. Any tips?

Visually check the kill wire from where it leaves the coil, its exit from the magneto back plate to its termination on the throttle plate . It should be insulated from earthing until the handle control and throttle cable are closed past slow and the linkage then earths it.
