Does anyone know how to remove the transmission from this mower.  I have dropped the mower and wrecked bearinf.  I need it would seem to remove the drive shaft and clutch, which I have wrecked.  Cog on outside does not appear to come off.  Any help appreciated although I am about fed up with this mower.  Engine quite sweet when running right.

Hmm, leaving aside words like oops and botheration lets just get it straight in our heads what has happened, when the mower dropped which bit hit the ground first?  from what your description I think you are trying to remove the land roll in which case the sprocket is held on to the roller drive shaft by a left hand thread that can be very tight to slacken off but once free should spin off of the shaft allowing access to the bearing behind it.

Which parts do you think are damaged? maybe a photo or two would help us to steer you through further dismantling. The Land roll is a bit of a lump to handle but not impossible so long as the rolls are not seized to the drive shaft in which case you may need the help of wristpin a fellow contributor to this forum who has dealt with this very challenge and produced an article for Grassbox magazine describing what to do.

The top shaft sprocket (or cog as you call it) is screwed on, normal thread, so you just need to stop the shaft rotating and then turn the sprocket in the usual direction, but it is probably very tight. You might find it easier to remove the entire shaft from the machine, remove the engine, undo and remove the three bolts & nuts that retain the outer bearing assembly, you could then work on the shaft easier.
