Just been given a 1994 Atco Commodore but it has a broken toothed belt. Anybody know the part no please and rough cost?

Also, I cannot seem to find the dipstick anywhere...please advise.

Thanks

The belt should be F016L23014, 128 tooth . The Gateshead Mower Centre bought all the Atco stock when Bosch divested themselves of the Atco, Qualcast and Suffolk stuff, but you may find one at an Allett dealer as Allett are now manufacturing some of the former Atco models.

Central Spares used to do an equivalent under their part number 26414 or you may be able to pick one up at a local belt and bearing factor.

Dip stick. Depends on which engine you have but it may be on the underside of a filler plug low down on the crankcase but it may be a case of just filling to the top of the threads where the level plug screws in.

Many thanks.

Started it today. Does it need a toothed belt to spin the blades? My guess is yes.

Does anyone have an online manual please?

The early version of the Commodore was all chain drive but later the primary chain was replaced by a belt. The chain or belt took the drive from the engine clutch shaft to the cutting cylinder from where it was sent to the rear roller via the traction clutch.

The machine would have been supplied with an operator's manual that included a parts list but as far as I know there was never a workshop manual.

I'm attaching an old scan of an early Commodore  - all chain driven - . Note that there are one or two other differences between it and the later machines, particularly in the construction of the bottom blade carrier and its associated stiffener plate that bolts up to the chassis. If I can find a manual for the later machines I will scan and post it later.
