Hi guys. I have a Webb 17 cylinder lawnmower. I've had it for 10 years but not used it for 6. It runs OK but wondered how I can check and adjust the valve gaps (if I need to?)  I'm going to oil change (what oil see 30?), clean air filter,  new spark plug sharpen cylinder and knife.  Should I do anything else? How do you lube the rear rollers and cylinder?

Thanks

I take it this is actually a 'badge engineered' Suffolk super punch. If it is running ok, I wouldn't bother with the valves, as you will have to partially strip the engine down (including removing the cylinder head). You will need SAE30 oil for the engine, you can also use this for general lubrication, the cylinder bearings are sealed and the rear roller runs on bushings that do not need lubricating.

How are you proposing to sharpen the cylinder and bottom blade ?

Thanks thats great. Your right  i should probably leave the valves alone!

The sticker on the base plate(/) says

Made for WEBB LAWNMOWERS LTD

MOTOR MOWER SER or  OER or UER (cant quite see it clearly enough)  .2 L23975

No 092276/1

1 KW  (?)   2800l/min

what age does that make the mower?

I was going to rmove the cylinder and take it to the local mower guy to put on his machine.

thanks

Yes, it is a 'Webb' Suffolk, 90s ??

I would speak to who ever is going to do the grinding for you, ask if they can do 'insitu' grinding. If they can, it will mean less work for you and should be cheaper. All you will have to do is:

Remove the chain and belt guards, remove the grass throw plate (concave, delivery plate i.e. the thing behind the cylinder) and bottom blade. Provided the cylinder bearings are in good order, you shouldn't have to remove anything else.
