Now this could be the youngest mower at the Rally this year!
Nevertheless; an enduring classic of design and practicality;- and of all British Construction.
We all know the "Zephyr" marque was originally used on a variety of different Green's Mowers; built of late by T. Green of Leeds.
This is a 17" Zephyr made by their (final) successor;- "Green's Power Mowers," (The Reekie Engineering Company, a company still in business today.)
We have exhibited it at the Malvern Autumn Show, and have had surprised reactions when people have enquired into its age; Since the mower retains much of the pressings and components used by T. Green, on their "original" machines; it often gives rise to people thinking it is a 1950's or 60's machine, when in fact built in December 1979!
The Engine is the strong, very prolific and reliable 120cc British built and beautifully sounding Villiers C12. Around the time this machine was built, Green's Power Mowers were switching to predominantly Honda & B&S engined machines.
