Gardeners in the 1920's and '30's must have been particularly fit and strong. This mower is extremely heavy and impractical to move around except under it's own power. It is a 20" cut and has a Blackburne engine with open valves. It was restored twenty years or so ago by Club member Crawford Stirling who wrote about the task in Grassbox numbers 34 to 37. It passed through another Club members hands before reaching me and has now cut grass at RHS Wisley and West Dean Gardens in West Sussex amongst others.
