Ransomes Patent Gear

I am sure many members share my passion for the 'Patent Gear' a mower that looks like it means business, this recently acquired very original 14in example has a few interesting features, an excellent grass box with transfer, which carries a small metal patent tag. When we checked the cylinder blades for a date they revealed a mixture of 26/27 & 30/31, were these blades individually replaced or a later replacement cylinder cobbled together by Ransomers towards the end of production, using any surplus blades available? The metal patent tag would I assume indicate a much earlier mower or indeed box. Note the sprockets are painted green as on many original Ransomes mowers, we often see these painted red on restored mowers, perhaps a bit ostentatious.
