Recently acquired: ATCO 17"

Hello everyone (my first posting here),

I've recently acquired an ATCO 17" cylinder mower and have some questions I need help with regarding it.

I Haven't done anything to the mower yet, just researching at the moment and do some work on it as required. I'm informed it runs OK.

Reading this website and searching the general internet I think it was made circa 1982.

I've the following info available;  (it has an aluminium marking plate);

Marking plate:

Made for CHARLES H. PUGH at Stowmarket, England.

17 ATCO  D/L.      AUD14

No.061914/D

The KW, RPM & Lw, Lp 10m & dB/A boxes are empty (presumably eroded off, see pic.).

So it looks to be an ATCO 17" De Luxe made in Stowmarket, but prior to the Commodore model (has a metal collector)

The Motor I assume is the 98cc Suffolk Engine (98G14) as it's aluminium and has 8 top bolts.

My Questions:

1. What are Lw and Lp?

2. What does AUD14 mean?  (I can't find out any reference to this)

3. Am I correct in that the No.061914/D is the manufacturing/serial code.  Any information from this?

4. While I searched, I can't be sure if it can take plain unleaded fuel. Unleaded was introduced in 1986.

5. Any advise regarding special attention I should consider regarding servicing?

I've added 3 Pics (hopefully) from my iPad I'm using.  My Account was created a week ago.

Welcome Neil,

Welcome Neil,

Lw & Lp are just related to noise declaration, I can't remember exactly what they mean, something to do with the sound power,

Unleaded fuel will be fine.

Re servicing see search for the manual on here in the service manuals section, don't know the answers to your other questions, hopefully someone will come along with more info.

Since you ask!

Since you ask!

"Emission sound pressure level at the workplace Lp: This is a measure of the sound pressure level caused by the machine at its workplace independently of room-related effects or extraneous noise. ... Sound power level LW: This is a measure of the total sonic energy directly emitted by the machine per unit of time."
