Old chain driven cylinder mower.

Hi all, new member. My interest in old mowers comes though work, I am a greenkeeper and have come across a few old models in my time.

Recently I found an old abandoned mower in the woods near the course I used to work at in my village.

I've done a few searches and will probably get some more pics if needed but out of interest does anyone recognise it?

Chain driven, front and rear rollers; cutting cylinder, chains and engine missing.. Quick pic from earlier today, plan to investigate further!

That handle bar configuration should make it easily identifiable - but not by me !

A more detailed pic of the sprocket / dog clutch ? On the end of the clutch shaft may ring a bell.

Long shot - was it actually a scarifier and not a mower, the colour sort of says Sisis.

Strange machine, the clutch shaft, front and rear rollers look like a 34" Atco, but the handles don't. I also wouldn't have thought a Golf course would use a 34" Atco, but who knows ?

Difficult to see as it's hiding  in the shadows.   Certainly could be Sisis colour....this pc monitor always tends to show darker than some...

If it turns out to be a light orange rather than Sisis colour....weren't Greens in light orange at one time...although I'm not at all familiar with their range.

I've just saved photo and made it lighter so I can view it better..it does look quite Atco Groundsman like...could someone tall have made a home-bru mod on the handles.? Is there a remnant of an old top of handlebar turning in still each side.?

After perusing the picture a bit more, I am now certain it is a 34" Atco, with the fuel tank (and brackets) removed, a 'loop' handle fitted and painted the wrong colour.

Yes, I’ll go along with  Atco Groundsman, the female side of the cone clutch and withdrawal collar would fit. A better image of the sprocket and dog clutch on the outboard  end of the top shaft would confirm it; but why the handle bar mod and paint job ??
