Little help needed from a Ransomes Lioness owner/ experienced member

My Ransomes Lioness arrived this morning and removed most of the parts except for the side plates which are not sliding off the cassette / Rotary blade shaft, It is not the drive pin, that has been removed, is there a grub screw in the oiling hole preventing its removal?

I don't want to force it, if there is something I am missing.

I have been in contact with the old Lawnmower Company (Separate entity) and while their experience is limited on this particular machine, they have put forward an idea that Ransomes incorporated within the cone of the side plate a CircClip which may be the reason why the parts mentioned will not pull apart adding to the frustration of not being able to get an eye view inside and gather what style of tool - modern or vintage I will need.

I guess we all jump through loops from time to time when there is a shortage of information.

No experience of that model and no parts diagram but I think that a circling is unlikely .  More likely just stuck . See if you can get hold of a parts diagram which will give a rough idea of what you are dealing with. Then maybe try a few exploratory taps with a nylon or copper faced hammer.

This is the parts list for the Lioness Mk1

Indeed it is , but I’d rather hoped for what is colloquially referred to as an “ exploded parts diagram” showing all the parts in their relative positions.

Many thanks Clive,

I have spent hours looking for information and references to my problem and found nothing, I am sure any keen lawnmower enthusiast in my position such as ypur self will agree, not to proceed with closed eyes in fear of causing irreversible damage and seek consultation as for the best course of action.

I will take a leap of faith and carefully hammer the shaft and see what happens (noting the advice -type of tools to be used)

Kind regards

Thank you for the  advice, This problem is a first for me given the number of lawnmowers I have worked on, if I am successful resolving the issue,, I will post my results.

Kind regards,

John

Successful separation,I carefully hammered the shaft with a bit of force, I had no choice, the issue appears to be the tight fit of the Hoffman Bearings.

As you can see from the photos, the bearings remain firmly fixed in one side panel socket, while the other is separated from the side panel and lodged on the Rotary blade shaft.                                                                                                                                                    Both bearings are different, one looks newer than the other in my opinion.

There is not a lot to repaint on this model
