Ransomes marquis18 inch restoration
I am restoring a marquis 18 inch imperial model. The bottom block for holding blade is badly pitted with
rust. Tried to get new one from ransomes UK but the part is obselete, part no mba 0498, Perhaps some member would have
one from an old mower or some would know where I can source one Many thanks.

Thanks to you both for replies.. Cylinder has plenty of life. I will just put on a new bottom blade, sandblast, apply Kurust, and paint. Advice on the posts was a great help . Thanks

Had Ransomes got one and given you a price you would probably have needed a very stiff drink !
Cant see much wrong with the one that you have - even the blade looks as though it still may have enough lip to take a skim, but new blades and screws are readily available, either original or pattern. What's the condition of the cutting cylinder?
