Motor Roller

A club member sent me the image below. He was wondering what engine might have been in it originally - perhaps a small Ford or Austin maybe?

Does anyone have any ideas or perhaps further information about the roller and its age and so on? Please post a reply if you can help.

Hi Keith

That roller is a Pioneer made by Pattisons,it looks 1950's,they came in many different sizes,so had many different engines which included Ford with cintilla magnetos. The pre war Pioneers which were made by Pattisons were also badge engineered to Greens of Leeds. The Pioneer badge should sit on the front shroud top.

Hope this helps as a start

Best Andrew

Doubt if it’s Ford or Austin as it appears to be air cooled.  Not quite right for a Lister though.

I think the question infers that the roller has possibly been re engined at some time, certainly the engine in it now looks like a Petter Diesel.

The current engine is a Petter PH1  9 bhp @ 2200 rpm made  from about 1968 to 1986 replacing the earlier AVA1.   I would say it had a sv Ford originally
