Greens motor mower 1936

I thought I would bring this mower up for discussion. First of all I would like to thank Clive for his invaluable help in acquiring this very rare and wonderful lawn mower. As you can see from its construction it is clearly pre war. In trying to determine its exact age Clive has also very kindly helped me in providing the information in Greens 1936 catalogue. From the photograph you can see the mower featured in that edition very closely resembles this mower. Does any one else have any more thoughts to its age or any more information please. Many thanks.

here

This used to be mine, glad it's still being appreciated, I picked it up in derbyshire from a classic car enthusiast, I got it working really nicely though as pictured it used to spit fire on account of the exhaust being missing! someone had added some red paint which didn't really improve it so glad that's been rectified. I'm not usually a fan of greens' design/build quality but this is a one of their best and lovely to use. I've only ever seen one other the same which is a picture in grassbox magazine as copied below.
As you can see the catalogue advertises the LMM in 14 16 and 20in widths, although these designs differ quite a bit which is usual for greens, i have seen a couple of the wider ones so suspect its' rarity is on account of its width.
All the best, Sebastian

only realised after my second

only realised after my second submission that posts now get reviewed before posting so these may appear in a string, sorry Keith!
Had another thought which is here is a picture of the previous layout of the LMM, this was on ebay a few years back and its very similar to the one shown at
https://www.oldlawnmowerclub.co.uk/mowers/moms/mp082-greens-light-motor-...

also pictured below are a couple of other contemporary greens motor mowers that have been for sale over the years

Hi Seb. That is absolutely

Hi Seb. That is absolutely fantastic. Thankyou so much for the photos and information. It's so nice to know it's previously been in a members hands and well looked after as we can all see. I do know what you mean about Greens quality but I think that really only applies to their later motor mowers. I don't think you can really find fault with their push mowers. As you can tell I am a huge fan of Greens and the whole story behind them, hence my user name.

Many thanks again. Sean.

Wow 30" is a beast ! Have you got any photos ? Something like that is too big for my collection as I've got about 370 mowers and am now really struggling for space.

I will have to check always

I will have to check always thought it was Greens own engine, they did start making their own in 1923 for various mowers in their range.

Good evening everyone,

Good evening everyone, regards Greens engines im not entirely sure the 4stroke engine was there own engine????

Greens did produce their own 2 stroke which was actually a Dalman engine which Greens eventually bought the production rights to and produced in house so to speak. The Dalman was a replacemnt for the Youngs engine which was poor and ended in litigation i believe. This info is all in John Pease's great book about T Greens ( a personal favourite brand of mine).

I have a few early Greens but no 4 strokes sadly, at least not yet that is.

Hi Rick

Hi Rick

Happy for you to give it the once over when you come down, to be honest its been at the back of a container for some while & haven't got round to taking a close look at the engine, be good to have your opinion.
