Hi to all !!

New member here.

I'm not an avid collector - for some unexplainable reason I bought a JP Super power mower around 12 years ago then left it languishing in the shed ever since.

However, recently I achieved the holy grail - I have a shiny new workshop in my back garden. Searching for my first project I decided to breathe new life into the JP.

I reconditioned the engine (Villiers Mk12/2), and freed off all the seized parts on the mower. It now works well enough to cut my lawns.

I joined this club to help satisfy my curiousity about the history of my mower.

Having read the excellent articles in Grassbox, I think I've established that my mower was manufactured in 1956.

Something's not right though.

JP Super Mk IV   Size 15

The machine number is B15/2E

Unit number is U15/5/2E 4

I believe that the '/2' means that the mower should be fitted with a 2 stroke engine whereas mine has the 4 stroke engine fitted.

Am I on the right track? Does my mower have a non-original engine?

Any contribution/opinion would be welcome.

Phil

The man to go to regarding JP's is Henry Ellis, I don't like to post email addresses in the forums because of spam bots so if you'd like to get in touch with him I'll email you his email address?

If you're a subscribed member of the club his details are in the Directory of Members, I think he'll be able to give you a solid answer.

If you use the link to "JP Help" in the Mower makes section the email will go to Henry.
