Atco Royale B24?
I acquired this mower some time ago with the intention of renovating it but as I have never got around to doing it was thinking of selling. I therefore need to identify it but there are no labels or identification numbers to be found. Looking at other mowers I think it is an Atco Royale B24 but Charles H Pugh is marked on the front where others show the model type. The cutting blade is 20" long can anybody help?

Thank you for your reply,
Thank you for your reply, would you have any idea of the year of manufacture?
Difficult one as the engine
Difficult one as the engine type and serial number would usually provide the best clue - if it was the original one, which we know that it is not. Is there an ID tag on the outside of the right hand chassis side plate?
That basic chassis first appeared with a Villiers engine and a bar operated clutch, possibly around the 1950s . The next major change was to a Tecumseh engine and the and cable operated clutch in the 70s followed by a change from BSF threads and fittings to UNF which ran right through to the adoption of the Royale name and Briggs and Stratton engine in the 90s .
Hopefully someone else can be a bit more precise in dating your machine.
Its an Atco 24 that has been
Its either Atco Heavy Duty 20 or 24, depending on the exact width of the cutting cylinder, that has been re-powered with the Kubota engine. Quite an old machine and well before the Royale name was used together with updated clutch and operator presence controls. Charles H Pugh was the holding company that owned the Atco (Atlas Chain Company) brand name.
