Suffolk Mower Colours
Hi all,
having now mechanically restored my mower to almost full working order, cosmetically its still looking a bit poor!
I am struggling to find any source of info or indeed paint for the orange/red cowling and handles. I also dont know which green thats advertised on a few websites mine is, and also can I use a standard red cyclinder paint colour?
cheers in advance,
Andy

Colours
Well I contacted Brian, but his reply wasn't the most helpful see below:
Hi Andrew, We can supply suffolk green spray paint @ ?12.99 per can. The
nearest orange acrylic enamel 50ml tub ?2.99 (will req min 2). We can
also supply a copy of the original owners handbook ?10. There is also a
new book out called 'Lawnmowers & Grasscutters' full of hints & tips on
mowers inc Punches. Signed 1st editions inc 2 free tickets to the
Lawnmower museum ?9.99. or Amazon or any book store.
He essentially just tried to sell me stuff, at what I see as inflated prices...
Any other ideas from you kind souls?
Andy
To get the right colour code
To get the right colour code you COULD take a piece of the mower where the paint work is fresh (I find usually underneath the rubber handles and behind the chain covers the paint is in good condition) to an automotive paint supplier (my local one is http://auto-paint.co.uk/carpaint/, which is fairly inexpensive) and ask them identify the colour code and mix the paint to that colour.
If somehow you manage to find out the colour code for the paint, that autopaint st helens deliver stuff through the post at a reasonable rate, and also if you do manage to find the colour code out it would be beneficial if you could post it on here for other people to see.
Cheers
There's a small business in
There's a small business in Knutsford, Cheshire, ran by just the one guy, who does restorations of Suffolks, ATCO's and Ransomes to sell to people, I had a look at a few of the mowers and they look brand new, the paint work is superb, unfortunately I don't know how to get hold of him for you, because he'd tell you the paint colours.
As an alternative, Brian Radam at the British Lawnmower Museum in Southport does Mower Restorations and I'm sure he'd be willing to let you know the right colour codes.
His business can be contacted at 01704 501336.
It's annoying that the colour codes for these mowers aren't on the website, if you manage to get the colour codes would you mind posting them in this thread and I'll get them put on the Mower Colours section of the website.
Thanks
