ATCO 14 inch cylinder removal

Good afternoon all,

I have succeeded in getting my 14 inch 1957 ATCO running well again. It has the Villiers 2-stroke engine. I would like to take the cylinder out to dress and repaint the blades but cannot figure out the correct sequence to do this. Doing some research suggests that I need to loosen the nut on the RHS on the shaft and that this has a LH thread. I have been putting a lot of torque on this nut to no apparent effect and I am concerned I am going to damage something if I continue doing this. Here is a picture of the mower for information.

Is there a thread or some other resource on the site that anyone can point me to to help with this task? I have looked, but can't find anything that looks to be what I need.

Almost certainly a left hand thread bt hopefully someone with specific knowledge will confirm - or otherwise. It will be tight and it will be beneficial to lock the cylinder by passing a stout piece of wood between the blades and resting on the chassis. The wooden handle of a wire brush is useful!

In passing, it is convention to refer to left and right from the operator's position, so your sprocket and nut is on the left hand side .
