Hi,

This is my first post so please be kind. I am used to working on the more modern allett professional mowers for my business but a few of my mates ask me why my lawn looks good so i tell them to chuck the flymo and let me find them a proper mower! So the most recent acquistion in an atco Commodore B20e (minus the battery for the e part). It runs and cuts lovely but the issue is that i cannot get it to drive forward without the blades going. It is one of the more modern ones i think cos it has the horrible plasticy health and safety catches.

Anyway, ive attatched a pic of the side workings, ive scratched my head a fair bit with it and i think that im just being dim and someone on here will just know instantly whats going on! 

So long and short is that it works but it would be ideal if i could get it to drive without the blades going.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

No image but the Commodore had no separate drive to the cutting cylinder which once the main clutch is  engaged is in drive either by chain on the early ones or a fine tooth belt on the later ones . From there the drive goes to the rear roller via the traction clutch .

If memory serves me right  it was not until the Balmoral generation that the cylinder and roller had separate V belt drives.

it just seemed strange to me to be able to pull up the drive and cutter handles seperately but the drive one alone not doing anything.
