Qualcast powered panther

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

I have recently purchased a qualcast powered panther. The blades on the cutting cylinder are worn too low to use as let alone re grind. Does anyone know if the cutting cylinder is the same as that on the earlier you should panther? Or is the drive shaft too short to hold the pulley on the powered panther?

Any help would be great

you should panther

Would that be the predictive text  push panther or even a Superlite Panther ?  Is your Powered Panther the one with the cylindrical motor mounted on top of the machine. The motor with an earth lead  - pre double insulation.?

This may help

but it does look as there are some changes in part number between the push and powered machines.

Thank you mine is the powered panther with a Jap petrol engine. The chassis is the same as the push panther made between 1930 to 1960.

Not the later electric type.

If, as I think it will be, the 'push' Panther is the one with the cutter adjuster in the middle of the throw plate/bottom block, then, no it will not fit. You need to find an electric Panther, any electric panther, or a later 'push' Panther. You just need to find something with the name 'Panther' on it, with a cutter adjuster at each end of the cutting cylinder. I am not entirely sure, but there is a good chance the cutting cylinder from the machine that Homebase etc were selling as a 'Webb' push mower will fit, because if that wasn't a Panther made under license, I will eat my hat. They probably made them under the Webb name because Homebase has/had the rights to the Qualcast name.

They probably made them under the Webb name because Homebase has/had the rights to the Qualcast name.

The great carve up when Bosch divested itself of all its mower brands.

Qualcast name went to the Home Retail Group aka Homebase

Webb went to Handy Distribution
Atco name went to GGP - Global Garden Products = Mountfield, Stiga and several more!

The rights to make Atco cylinder mowers but not under the Atco name went to Turfmech aka Allett

E&OE !!
