Hello

I have a Qualcast 16 that has a vertical engine with petrol tank on top. There is no metal cover on the chassis.

Does anyone know how i can date this mower? I could not see any numbers on the mower.

Thank you

Hello

An image is always useful, The 16 was I believe first introduced in 1934 , not the late 30's as is often thought, early machines had the fuel tank suspended under the top handle crossbar with the engine tilted forward very few of these models exist, the tank was then moved to a bracket above the engine & certainly in the 1938 catalogue they still showed the engine being tilted forward. Its more common to see the vertical engined models which continued in production into the 1950's, In 1953 they certainly had more covers fitted over the chain, sprocket etc but still remained very similar to the original model. .
