Atco 60th Anniversary 1982 Publication
During the 1980s I was employed as Professional Equipment Sales Manager by Birmid Qualcast at Bristol Garden Machinery Ltd. This was the re-located Chepstow Atco Service Branch.
I recently came across this leaflet from 1982 in my files celebrating the "60th" anniversary Of the ATCO Motor Mower with the familiar story of the deceased donkey & the need to motorise the old Donkey mower to cut the grass at the factory site etc, Well there was this picture of a Donkey Mower in the publication & I have a few questions & observations that you might wish to pontificate about, as a bit of fun.
The Mower cannot be an ATCO, so what make is it? Atco did not make any Donkey mowers to my knowledge.
I know that it was taken near Sheffield specifically for this publication & that the two Atco employees were directed to play the parts of Donkey minders & Mowermen, Who are they & are they still around today?
I do know that the Donkeys name was Ben because he was featured in the in-house newsletter at the time.
I would love to know what you all think, particularly what the make of mower is.
More later after you have all had a chance at it, I will then reveal what I know about this celebration leaflet for Atco's 60th, I was there.
Regards to all Peter Hampton
A Barford & Perkins Godiva
A Barford & Perkins Godiva perhaps as whilst the image is not clear, looks like it has the (Wanbrough's Patent) height adjuster?
