American miniature mower

Hi all, I've been offered a very small, I think American mower, possibly a toy but very well engineered and will cut grass! I would like advice on what it would be worth paying for it, seller is asking circa £300, which I thought is a bit steep, perhaps I'm wrong! I had one years ago and vaguely remember talking to Jim Ricci about it but that was around 8yrs ago, any advice appreciated. The mower has patent dates of 1909 but no maker's name.

HI Donal

Good to hear from you, what size is it? Does it have a patent number.?

Seems the smaller they are the more they go for, a little 7in tall 'Salesmans Sample' in the USA recently sold for $5400 plus comm.

The one pictured here does perhaps look too well made to be a toy?

Hi Clive, it's a 5 to 6 inch cut judging by the photo and memory, the patent number is on the side wheel and dated 1909 unfortunately not a clear photo by the vendor!
