Old Suffolk punch coil

Hi all. Need to change points and coil on a Suffolk punch. I'm just wandering how you get the correct gap between the coil and inside edge of flywheel. Any advice please as never done this before.

You don't ;-)

The coil is fixed to the stator plate, which is secured to to the backplate with two bolts and these allow the plate to rotate to set the timing, there is no way to affect the clearance between the coil and the inside of the flywheel.
