Been offered one of these as he wanted a home for it rather than scrap it and had seen a photo of my ransomes.

Cheep  and cheerful, more of a grass cutter than a lawn mower!

Agreed they were cheap and cheerful but they can still look presentable and when fully sorted can still do the job they were made for.

Is it worth the cost in paint and having the cylinder ground? I wonder if it might make a good edger to save scraping my mower against walls and fence panels.

Re is it worth the cost of the paint like many things that has to be down to your personal choice, as it stands now probably not but after restoration maybe.

I think using a wheeled mower as a lawn edger is going to be a frustrating exercise due to the cutting wheels and frame of the mower being wider than the cutting width. In the case of cutting to the edge of a flower bed the wheel will fall off of the grass and scalp the edge of the grass, to avoid this a roller mower can help as it will overlap to edge of the lawn without falling into the border

Collected it today as the chap only lived 5 miles away. Just had a look online and think spares may be a bit of a problem.

Are handle grips and possibly new rubber for the wheels hard to come by? The grass collector is in great shape for its age and the mower was owned by the owner from new.
