Collection, Preservation and Display of Old Lawn Mowers

Dating JP Maxees

being new to old lawnmower I am trying to identify and date my three JP Maxees.  I bought them as part of a job lot and the seller seemed to be knowledgeable.  His dads old mower was bought after WW2, the MK3 is an earlier model with MK1 / MK2 cylinder.  The other incomplete machine appears to be an older model.  Some of the obvious differences are the rear roller, 2 alloy and one steel, the size of the chain guards, the number of rivets holding the blades to the cylinder, two rivets compared to single rivet, the oil hole cover, metal sprung cover or rubber bung.

i expect there are numbers on the frame.  Inside the chain covers?  What will any numbers I find mean?

lastly, what is the historically correct colour?  One is olive green and the other a lighter and brighter pea green for won't of a better description.  All working and doing a fantastic job! So pleased I bought old!

any help most appreciated.
