Hayterette - identify model

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

Have just joined OLC and would be grateful if someone could identify my lawnmower. Images should be attached to this post.

It is a Hayterette with a Briggs & Stratton 3.5HP engine. The machine number located by the grass flap reads S242145.

The stamp by the exhaust is difficult to read but these are its details as far as I can make out.

Model 1? YRE C (or it could be) 5 ON
32908 5241 0? BS 0512G

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

You already know what it is, it is 3 1/2hp Hayterette ;-)

Hayter were not very good at differentiating between versions, they usually just went off the name and year of manufacture. If you find the B&S engine number, usually stamped into the airshroud next to the sparkplug or just above the muffler, this will be in the format 'Model-Type-code', find the code and the first two numbers are the year it was made, followed by the month and day.

As an aside, if it had been fitted with the 5hp engine as fitted to the Hayter 21", it would have been a 5hp Hayterette Pro.
