Hi I have just become the owner of a suffolk super colt and would like to know if I can fit a scarifier and if so what should I be looking for .

I think you are referring to a rake or grasscomb behind the front roller, a scarifier is something different. I have never seen a Super Colt fitted with a rake, this doesn't mean you cannot fit one, you will just have to design and make it yourself.

This jogged my memory to, maybe, 30+ years ago.  I seem to recall one of the pattern parts purveyors doing a rake tine and star wheel "spiker"  that purported to fit mowers of the day such as here,  fitted onto or in lieu of some of  the plastic front rollers...

Some years ago I made one to fit on the front of my Hayter Harrier. Comb from the Atco Commodore, rollers from Qualcast/Suffolk and some steel tube coutesy of Countax stillages!

It worked well; almost too well as I kept having to stop and clear the debris that it collected.

I cant remember who made this comb which came in various sizes and brackets to fit popular mowers of the date. This one would have been late 60s , early 70s and I was running it on a belt driven Webb 24
