Mk8 Ransomes Certes bearing housing

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

Hello again, I've just been prepping the cutting cylinder on my mk8 Certes, cleaning the grease off the bearing housings before removing them in preparation for a regrind, and spotted potentially a major issue on the drive side one,  there is a hairline crack running from the hole where the shaft protrudes through, straight around to the bottom edge

I don't suppose anyone out there could suggest if It would be possible to get hold of a replacement from anywhere?

Post an image, someone may recognise it as being similar to one used on a different machine.

Welding it up / grinding it back if you can get good penetration could be an option although may distort if the part is too small and depends on the material, would need a good welder - not me :-)

Thanks for the replies, it looks like the housing is cast steel, so I don't know if that would be possible to  weld, according to the user spares docs the Astral, Anglia, and Celer all have the same code, and the pics I have seen of those models look the same, I have attached a pic as suggested

Cast iron is difficult to weld but cast steel is relatively easy in the hands of a decent welder. But ideally a serviceable replacement would be more desirable.

I can't see an image, did it fail to load?
