What would you do?
I have an Atco light kickstart model that I am currently restoring,I have put a test meter on the coil and it registers a healthy 5k ohms.So do I risk a 72 year old coil or replace it now with a modern one whilst it is stripped down ?
I 've not been able to actually test for a spark yet

I did replace the coil and capacitor on my last restoration but that was out of necessity as they were both duff

I've replaced the coil on my Standard recently - not particularly difficult, though the mag on the Standard is easier to get to than on the kickstart models. Assuming (big assumption!) you find a healthy spark I'd leave it, and put your pennies away for when you do need one as they are not especially cheap.

Just out of interest, what readings, primary and secondary, did you get on that new coil?
