Oil for Atco Deluxe 14 4 stroke

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

Hello All,

What a great little site!

I have a cherished old Atco 14 4 stroke, with (I think) a 75cc villiars engine. Can anybody tell me what Oil I should use for a service?

Also, a couple of the blades are slightly bent. It cuts OK, but would it be alright to tap the blades back into position?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Cheers, Dazz

Presume that you have SAE 30 for making up the mixture (that's what it was designed to use, not modern synthetic 2-stroke oil) so just use some of that for general lubrication. I would leave the blades as they are unless you are having the cylinder reground. If you straighten them out a weld may break or you may create a high spot and upset your "OK cutting"!

Thanks Wristpin,

I'm glad I asked now......I nearly did drain and put synthetic in there a few days ago.

I don't know a lot about mowers, but this old one is close to my heart as my dad bought it 50 years ago before I was born. It's about the most reliable mechanical machine I have ever known!!

Never needs more than 2 pulls and it fires up!

Thanks again,

Dazz

I apologize, I didn't  read your original post properly  - you have a 4-stroke! However the recommendation for an SAE 30 oil is still good . A good quality low detergent SAE 30 will be fine.
