Ransomes on eBay

Another of Rays 'planning days' here as a good covering of snow persists and rules out any sensible work in the gardens.

I have spotted a fairly (ish) interesting machine on eBay -  headed Ransomes lawnmower vintage - item number 281054209861 , sorry I haven't worked out how to add a direct link. Anyway it's allegedly a Ransomes Ladybird and looks like an Atlas or earlier Ajax with an electric motor.

I don't remember seeing one before and I'm wondering if  it's a conversion kit added on later rather than a factory original. Someone I'm sure will know the answer. It all looks delightfully lethal but quite an interesting thing I thought.

I would also strongly recommend a look at these videos that Keith has recently added; material there I've not seen before, and for those who knew him it was great to see David Lumsden in his heyday.

Here's a link to the mower listed:

Personally, I'd be inclined to think this was an "official" modification if there was a cover over the chains at the side.

Thanks for the recommendation on the videos as well Colin. You're right, there are some great little gems here and most haven't seen the light of day for many years. And boy do I look young in a few of them!

Ransomes Ladybird

It looks like the Ladybird was a commericially available after-market conversion kit.

Have a look at this link to the VHGMC for more information:
