Velocette lawnmower ?

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

In the book "Lawnmowers and Grasscutters" it is said "...Velocette motorbikes made a superb twin cylinder engine mower."

I have owned Velocette motorbikes for over 50 years but have never heard of this and neither has anyone on the owners club

forum. There is no mention of it in the OLC Lawnmower Directory.

Does anyone out there know anything about this elusive machine?

H'mm I have not of that mower before, it raises the question though of which engine did they use - Noddy Bike?

Veloce made an industrial version of the LE (Noddy bike) engine in the early 60's.A lot of these

were sent to Australia to power refrigeration plants for ice cream kiosks.

I think that a more likely engine would be the 250cc two stroke flat twin that was fitted in their

Viceroy scooter. This was air-cooled as against water of the LE so some sort of fan would be

needed.A number of these engines were sold to power small hovercraft.

Interesting to hear that there was an industrial version of the LE engine, If I remember correctly they were liquid cooled weren't they? long before the little Japanese two strokes !

Re the original question I browsed Graces guide for a bit but did not find any leads, however I am posting a link here in order that you may see for yourself their Velocette info.

Maybe an email to the author would unearth some more info.
