Atco Balmoral 20s Grass Box Cradle - why does it adjust?

I have just purchased a second-hand Balmoral 20s which is in superb condition, and a lot lighter than my much older Atco 24"!

It has a plastic grass box which hooks over the cradle arm. My question (which might be a daft one) is why does the cradle arm move into two positions? You can pull it forwards and backwards and it clicks into one of two positions. Any ideas anyone?

Many thanks

Andy

As far as I can remember it

As far as I can remember it locks nearly vertical for storage and horizontal for use ?

The mower takes up less

The mower takes up less parking space when the arm is up...

:)

Thanks for the replies - it's

Thanks for the replies - it's seems that the box hooks onto the cradle whilst in a vertical position - i.e. the cradle sits inside the top of the box , but the other position is more folded back towards the machine. It's not really in the way when folded out but I guess you are probably right, it folds back against the machine when you don't want to use it!

Oh well, learn something new every day!

Thanks again

Andy
