Great Tits

That's got your attention!!

Sun shining, lawn a bit less boggy, grass getting a bit long Grandchildren due down for Easter so decided to do the first cut of the season, a good measure of moss evident.

Did notice the birds singing more than usual, this prompted me to plug in the nest box camera's for the first time this year to see if everything was working.

To my surprise after switching on the screen in my office a Great Tit was already busy dealing with the freshly exposed moss & building a nest, as the day went on the moss nest was expanding well.

Question, how many more nest boxes do I need to put up to rid the lawn completely of moss?

If anyone interested in birds etc I will put up a blog on my charity's website showing the progress of the Great Tits.

Lovely pictures Clive,

What with all the rubbish in the world , its great to enjoy the outdoors, and those of us blessed with a garden and lawn, to see wild birds is a great pleasure.

During lockdown our garden was our refuge and our garden birds were great companions, particularly at that time.

You can never have enough nest boxes,  we put ours on sides of buildings not in full sun. What with the hot July 2022, Birds do not like nest boxes in the sun,  we had some baby sparrows so hot last July, they were sticking their heads out to cool off.

Mainly Sparrows nest on the North side of our house, but I suppose this depends on the location.
