Greens TutorI've added this Greens Tutor to my collection today. I reckon it's a great looking machine and reminds me of the Monitor/Zephyr models. Would I be correct in thinking this is of a similar age? Unfortunately, no grass box. Does anyone have pictures or diagrams of how this would look with the grassbox?Greens Tutor

Hello

Yes does have a good look, this was one of the models introduced immediately after WW2, not a great number seen, made in 12 & 14in.

I attach an image from the Thomas Greens photo archive that was acquired by our museum from John Pease author of The History of Thomas Green & Son.

You will see this example has a wooden sided box with simple brackets which could easily be replicated, we do have a member who can work wonders with sheet metal if required.

We also have a copy of the working instructions/parts list.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info about this. I might have a go fabricating a grassbox myself when time allows. I'll try and copy as closely as I can the box in your photo. I've recently also got hold of a Qualcast B1 sidewheel mower and was pleasantly surprised when cutting longer grass with this. It seems to handle any tufts that a cylinder roller mower would flatten rather than cut. This could be my lawn regime from now on. Take the tops off occasionally when required with a sidewheel followed by a final cut with a roller mower for the close striped finish.
