Thanks Clive and Rob.  I must be losing the plot as I normally only like to stick to the smaller 6” & 8” sizes for reasons of space and ease of moving them around. I just had to have this because I think it is quite an important mower, not necessarily because it’s uncommon but mainly it’s fabulous original condition. I’m a real sucker for these original patina mowers.

 Best  example of oily rag patina that I’ve seen in a long time. Dread to think of its weight. Never seen one in action but I guess that there’s some risk that the man pulling may leave compressed grass foot prints that escape the blades; perhaps not, with frequent mowing ?

I have found the best way to clean old paint is with thin oil. Other fluids or compounds tend to remove older paint. You’re  right, the weight of this machine is ridiculous. However this example is so good it is surprising  how easily I can push this over my lawn on my own with the blades turning and cutting. A dead lift is impossible.
