Shanks Pelican

Recently acquired thanks to a tip off from Club Member Clive Gravett. It's a little uncertain as to whether this a semi-domestic or semi-professional machine. It was described by Shanks at the time as a high class machine for the small lawn, ideally suited for private tennis courts. Probably introduced around 1949 when Shanks were having a lot of problems with their lawnmower production. Consequently there seems to be relatively few of them, only being in production for a couple of years.

I've now had the opportunity of giving it a bit of a ' workover ' ( more like 7 days Sean ! ) so here are some before and after shots. Apologies for the knackered grass - no lawn here at the best of times.

Great looking mower Colin, I particularly like the different shaped scraper plate on it. You have certainly  done a great job with the cleaning of it. Cheers. Rob
