Hi

im looking at a Kawasaki fj100 on an Allet Kensington. It ran for a 10 mins then died. I’ve stripped the carb completely cleaned the emulsion tube and jet, now it will only run with the choke closed. Any ideas before I send it to the dealer?

A schematic of the internal drillings and passages within the carb is always useful in understanding what is fed from where.

Sounds as though it’s dragged in a bit of dirt from somewhere and is in need of further cleaning . I’m not familiar with that engine but if it has a bowl carburettor and the nut holding the bowl on has a hollow well , did you clean the well out? I assume that it has slow running / progression system  feeds into the venturi , perhaps micro orifices either side of the closed throttle position and fed from a gallery covered/ accessed from under a visible welch plug visible on the carb body. If you can see where that gallery is fed from and pressurise it with an aerosol of carb cleaner , you should be able to see fuel being squirted into the venturi from those micro orifices.
