Ransomes Auto Certes Mk 8 - carburetor

Enter a word or two to search the forum section and click the Search Forum button.

I  have just picked up a Ransomes Auto Certes Mk 8. The carburetor is unusual, I assume it has replaced the usual Amal model. Does anyone recognise it? I haven't had time to clean or attempt to start the machine yet, no spark at the moment, but would be interested in identifying the carburetor before I start. I can see no text or markings on the carburetor.

Identification would be easier if you remove the complete air filter so we can actually se the carb itself. However I’ve seen a couple of machines fitted with Dellorto carbs as original equipment and fitted with that pattern of air filter. Dellorto carbs have the word Dellorto moulded into their casting.

I thought that this picture had been inserted as well. I will clean the carburetor next week to see if there is any text on it and take some more photographs.

Fairly certain that is a Dellorto carb. The engine is probably  a Villiers  A15,  the later version of the similar looking F12 Sloper that was fitted with the Amal carb.
