Hi

im building a Norman twin and require a distributor cap. Finding it difficult to source, plenty of 4’s has anyone modified a 4 cylinder cap to operate as a 2 cylinder by removing two of the contacts ?

Can’t quite get my head around it and have never seen one but a starting point could be with the cap off observe the rotor arm  in relation to the the top dead centre ( both valves shut) firing point for each cylinder and see if it coincides with two of the four HT lead positions. If that looks right , there’s probably no need to remove contacts as it’s no lead going to non existent cylinders there will not be a spark going anywhere.

that sounds like a plan. Some of the two cylinder caps I’ve seen in the US are 4 cylinder with blanks in 2 ht points so I think you’re right. Cheers
