I think that this is the appropriate parts illustration for your machine.
What I should have said is…
What I should have said is that the right hand bearing carrier has a pinch bolt( screw) that tightens it on the bearing. Slackening that screw should allow the carrier to slide on the bearing and push inward to the roller , creating a bit more wiggle room to make it easier to manoeuvre the roller out. As and when you want to remove the cutting cylinder, the right hand bearing has the same arrangement .

Thanks wristpin. It was lashing rain today, so I did exactly as you instructed and roller
came out easily, really pleased. So thank you very much. I will continue with restoration
now during wet days of which there may be many.

Help with Atco B24 bottom…
Help with Atco B24 bottom blade part no. Downloaded full parts list for my Atco B24 Hd model with Tecumseh H50 engine. Bottom blade no is given as L12383 and screw L13226 but the well known suppliers quote different numbers such as F016101019 and F016j11406. Can any person help. I do not want to order wrong parts. Remove the connecting link…
Remove the connecting link from the intermediate chain and the final drive chain. Remove the split pin retaining the intermediate sprocket which with a bit of a wiggle will come off its shaft. You’ve already removed the nut retaining the final drive sprocket and using two levers remove the sprocket from the splined end of the roller shaft. With the sprocket out of the way you will see the three bolts holding shaft bearing carrier to the inside of the chassis. At the other side of the machine the right hand end of the roller shaft is supported by a similar bearing carrier with three bolts. With the bolts removed from both bearing carriers the complete roller can be wrangled out of the chassis .
With the roller out of the chassis the ratchet mechanisms on the outer end of each roller can be removed and the rollers removed from the shaft.
